Rei Do Gado, Brazilian Steakhouse is located on 939 4th Avenue, a block away from Gaslamp Plaza Suites. You will receive 10% off your bill if you mention you are staying with us and show them the flyer you can pick up at the front desk.

If you are really hungry, head over to Rei Do Gado on 4th Avenue. They serve unlimited meat on skewers and have a wonderful self serve buffet to go with the meat

Rei Do Gado   The King of the Herd

The Churrasco, Brazilian barbeque is a traditional feast that has been celebrated in Brazil for centuries. The origin of feast is from the southern regions of Brazil called Rio Grande do Sul where most meat productions are from. The Gauchos, Brazilian cowboys, usually cook the meats with skewers slowly roasting in the heat. All the meats were marinated with simple seasoning and served with salads, Brazilian rice and beans. The best-roasted meats were shared around to each family.
Now you can enjoy the same types of Churrasco in San Diego, CA. There are more than 40 different salads, side dishes, and meat selections served at Rei Do Gado Brazilian Steak House. It is a unique and healthy way of roasting meat over a mesquite flame that preserves tenderness and gives a taste unmatched by any other.
Arriving at REI DO GADO®, you will encounter an unlimited buffet at mouth-watering typical dishes and salads. The passador (meat waiter) will soon come to your table with different types of selections of meat at a time. Then meat will be sliced of the skewer down to your plate. This will continue when you place a green chip by your plate and by turning the chip over to red, this will signal that you are done.
When you think you have seen it all, you will indulge in the most delicious desserts in the World. This is a traditional that unites friends and family and will keep you coming back for more!

Enjoy!

Lots of fun things going on in San Diego for Comic Con

zombie-walk-
There is so much happening around the Gaslamp Quarter for Comic Con. Below are a few things you can explore:

The Walking Dead Escape: To celebrate the landmark 100th issue of The Walking Deadgraphic novel, the comic-turned-TV phenomenon will be the subject of a massive obstacle course at PETCO park from July 12-14. You can either play as a “Survivor” or a “Walker.” Tickets are still currently on sale, but don’t expect that to last long. (Official website.)
Extra at Comic-ConWarner Bros. is hosting a free outdoor festival at San Diego’s Bayfront Park. Presented by the newsmagazine Extra, the stage promises to feature live interviews with stars from WB-owned shows (like The Big Bang Theory and Fringe.) They’ve also announced appearances by unofficial Comic-Con mascot Kevin Smith and a performance by the Bacon Brothers — as in, Kevin Bacon and Other Bacon. More importantly, Extra at Comic-Con” will feature every single Batmobile, from Adam West’s Lincoln Futura to Christian Bale’s mega-tank. (Official website.)
NBC at Gaslamp Square Park: The network will be taking over a stretch of town at 5th Avenue and K Street. Tin Fish restaurant will be transformed into a Grimm playpen, complete with professional makeup artists applying skin carvings to anyone willing. The network also promises to show off the actual Ferris wheel from the Revolution series premiere and something called “Revolution Village,” which hopefully won’t end with Giancarlo Esposito killing some or all of your loved ones.

Cartoon Network Take OverThe cultishly beloved Adventure Time series will have an exhibit at San Diego’s New Children’s Museum, featuring a recreation of the show’s topsy-turvy fantasy world. Guaranteed to please ten-year-olds and certain college students in a certain frame of mind. (Official website.)6th Annual Zombie Walk: Zombie fans also have the option of participating in this annual undead march, where you can join dozens of attendees in convincing makeup on a meandering brain-hunt through downtown San Diego. This year, the Zombie Walk will take place on Friday starting at 5 PM.

The Zombies are coming!

Comic-Con 2012 - What's New

San Diego Zombie Con
With reports nationwide of crazed individuals eating their own intestines, or other people’s faces, or even the family dog, many have fancifully proclaimed the onset of a pending zombie apocalypse.  In San Diego, California, there are indeed signs of such an apocalypse that not-so-coincidentally ties into next weekend’s Comic-Con International, but fortunately these signs aren’t nearly so ghastly.
One such event is the annual Zombie Walk: San Diego, where the would-be undead can dress the part and put on their best rotting zombie faces before marching through San Diego’s Gaslamp District. There have been several such walks in the San Diego area over the past five years, but the biggest and best known have occurred annually during Comic-Con. This year’s Comic-Con walk takes place, much to the delight of the more superstitious crowd, on Friday, July 13 at 5:30PM, and for 300 lucky zombies and several other contest winners, the event will culminate with an invitation-only party at San Diego’s Voyeur club immediately after. This “Con of the Dead” party is sponsored by the cable horror channelFEARnet, who has partnered with Capcom and Dark Sky Films for this exclusive afterparty. While the party is by invitation only, the Zombie Walk itself is open to anyone wishing to participate, even those not attending Comic-Con. For more information, check out the Zombie Walk’s website atwww.sdzombiewalk.com, as well as www.fearnet.com.

We welcome all the Comic Con visitors to San Diego and the Gaslamp Plaza Suites!

Comic-Con & Gaslamp Quarter information

COMIC CON
completely sells out the enormous San Diego Convention Center every year; they see more than 125,000 attendees PER DAY, about half of which don their favorite movie character & super hero costumes or villain disguises.  More than Comic books, the pop culture convention now encompasses everything from action-figures and retro video games to TV & Hollywood blockbusters.  They host celebrities and panels of writers and producers of every type imaginable.
Being so close is a very exciting amenity of living and working in San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter and we suspect that in addition to all of these cool attendees, we have plenty more visitors who just swing by to see the sights and enjoy the atmosphere during the 4+ days of activity.

San Diego fireworks fail is unintentional art

The Big Bay Boom — San Diego’s Independence Day Fireworks spectacular, billed as one of the largest shows in the country — has finally lived up to its name.
A technical glitch caused all of the fireworks to go off at once, igniting the sky with approximately 15 seconds of angry, simultaneous explosions. The show was supposed to last 18 minutes. In a statement on their Web site, Garden State Fireworks said they were working to determine what technical problem caused the launches.
